Fall 2024 Recreation League Soccer
Beginning May 5, 2024, you can register your children for the fall 2024 Recreation soccer season. The season runs from late August through early November. The first game is the Saturday after Labor Day and the last game is the first or second Saturday in November. To register, click on the Register button in the upper right hand corner of the website. If you have already logged in, click My Account in the upper right hand corner of the website and scroll down to where it shows programs available for your child(ren).
Our U4 Dino Division (3 year olds) meet once per week on Saturday at 9:00am. They meet in a large group, then break into smaller groups, and rotate through different stations where they learn individual soccer skills. Later in the season, they will end the session by breaking into 4-6 "teams" and play an informal scrimmage. The session lasts about 45 minutes. 2 year olds are allowed in this group if the parents feel they are capable, but be aware that the vast majority of children in this group are 3.
All other children meet 1 night per week for practice (45 minutes - 1 hour+ depending on age and coach) and then have 1 game on Saturday. The practice locations vary, but are all in the Mountain Island area. The practices generally start at 6pm, however, if it works better for a team, they may practice at a different time.
Game Times are not yet scheduled for 2024, but a majority of the games will be between 9am-3pm each Saturday. Some of the U13 and U10 games will extend later into the afternoon. All games in 2024 will be played at Mountain Island Charter School (MICS), which is located at 13440 Lucia Riverbend Hwy, Mt Holly 28120. The school is just on the north side of Mountain Island Lake off of Hwy 16.
We play Small-Sided games (until U13) in order to give the children more experience and more "touches." U6 plays 4v4 (no goalie), U8 plays 6v6 (including goalie), U10 plays 7v7(including goalie), and U13 plays 11v11.
During registration, we ask if there are any days that would not be available for practice (for church activities or other sports, for example). That information will be used to assign the children to teams as best as possible. Keep in mind we have to have a team/coach available for your child's age group on the preferred practice nights. Example, if you have a U10 child that can only practice Friday's and there are no teams that practice on Friday, we may need to place you on another team.
Fees:
U4 (3 years old) - $55 (includes Size 3 soccer ball, uniform and socks)
U6 (4-5 years old) - $125 (includes Size 3 soccer ball, uniform and socks)
U8 (6-7 years old) - $135 (includes Size 3 soccer ball, uniform and socks)
U10 (8-9 years old) - $135 (includes Size 4 soccer ball, uniform and socks)
U13 (10-12 years old) - $135 (includes Size 4 soccer ball, uniform and socks)
Sibling discount of $10 for each child after the first child.
Parents must provide shin guards. Cleats are optional, but recommended for U8 & higher. (Make sure they are soccer cleats. Some football and/or baseball cleats have a single cleat in the front. Those are not allowed in soccer for safety reasons.)
